About Dhamma Pitha
Dhamma Pitha (also known as Amdavad Vipassana Meditation Centre) is run by Gurjar Vipassana Kendra. Dhamma Pitha means the Pitha(Centre) of dhamma in Pali Language. It is one of the numerous worldwide Centres dedicated to the teaching of Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin.
Meditation Hall
There are two Meditation Halls in the Centre. approx. 30 Students can do meditation in small meditation Hall and approx. 250 students can do meditation in new meditation Hall.
Dining Hall
Separate dining halls for male & female can serve up to 120 students each. Meals are non-spicy & indigenous. Reverse Osmosis system assures best drinking water here. Boiled; filtered and chilled water is also available.
Pagoda
Pagoda includes 107 private meditation cells for old students. The individual meditation cells that make up the pagoda will allow old students to meditate more deeply with fewer distractions. These cells will be especially useful for those old students who are doing long courses at the Centre.
Accommodation
The center has total 99 individual rooms with attached bathrooms. 64 rooms on Male side and 35 rooms on Female side. All the accommodations have solar hot water facility & are self contained, both Indian and western toilets options are available.
Centre Location
Dhamma Pitha is located at Ranoda Village situated between Amdavad City and Dholka Town. It is approximately 35. Kms. away from Amdavad city, 3 Kms. before Dholka town.
Arrivals by Airplane
Please try to arrange to arrive at the Amdavad airport before 1:00 PM on the day the course begins. Your departing flight should leave after 11:00 AM on the last day of the course.
Once at the airport, you will need to take a taxi to the Centre.
Take the Sarkhej - Dholka highway.
Centre is situated at Ranoda Village before 3 KMs. from Dholka.
Centre is situated on the left side of the road while travelling from Amdavad to Dholka.
Arrivals by Train
Please try to arrange to arrive at the Amdavad railway around 1:00 PM on the day the course begins. Your departing train should leave after 11:00 AM on the last day of the course.
Please go to the S.T. Stand, about 2 kms. from Amdavad railway station.
From there please take S.T. or a private Bus for Dholka town
Ask for “Dhamma Pitha” a request stopage before Ranoda Village.
The distance from S.T.Stand to the centre is approx. 35 KMs. It takes about one hour to reach.
Arrivals by Bus
There are several options to reach the Centre when traveling by bus.
S.T. and private Buses are available almost every hour from S. T. Stand and Paldi Bus Stand for Dholka.
Ask for “Dhamma Pitha” – Ranoda Village.
Dhamma Pitha Centre is situated before Dholka.
